Today, construction worker Angel Capili Jr. surrendered to the chief of his village as the murderer of Charice’s 40 year old father, Ricky Pempengco.
“I had really planned to surrender because what I did was wrong, I am seeking forgiveness from the family left behind by Mr. Pempengco. … I am prepared to suffer whatever is the judgment.” – MTV News
The reason for his murder of Mr. Pempengco is still unknown, however we do know that the man was intoxicated at the time. Charice is currently in the Philippines (she had arrived yesterday, Wednesday, 11/2/11) with her family, mourning over the loss of her father.
“Whoever did this must be brought to justice. Justice must be served, not just for my father but for everyone concerned” Charice said in a recent interview.
The alleged murderer claims that he was assaulted by Mr. Pempengco, and so he stabbed him in self defense. More information coming soon.
Charice’s father, Ricky, was murdered in the Phillipines while he was on his way to a grocery store near Manila. There murder stabbed him in the chest & back with an ice pick.
Charice is extremely heartbroken and saddened by his sudden death, and has canceled shows in Singapore to be with her family.
“I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert,”
“I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.” – via Twitter
According to TheCelebrityCafe.com, police said they are still looking for the man who killed Charice’s father, adding the suspect didn’t seem to have any motives for the murder.
We’re so sorry Cha, our deepest condolences to your and your family. We are also mourning with you, even though we didn’t know your father, he was family–because us Chasters, are family. We love you! Please stay strong.
Although Charice is pretty much all grown up, and doesn’t need a ‘mentor’ anymore, David Foster and his work of art still hope to work together in the future and stay close.
“As for touring, I hope for many, many years we will always tour together [as long as] she has the time. She tours on her own,” he said, adding, “I love having her and she loves being with me and that’s not going to change.” - David Foster in a recent interview.
