Who is Charice you may ask? Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco is an 18 year old girl from the Philippines. She was born in Laguna in the Philippines on May 10, 1992. In Charice’s life, she faced some very tough things. Her father was a very violent man, he had almost killed Charice’s mom. Charice was only 2 or 3 years old when this happened, and she could do nothing to help.
In 2005, Charice entered a singing competition called Little Big Star, a contest modeled after American Idol. Although she was eliminated after her first performance, she was called back soon after as a wildcard contender. This may have been her big break, considering she later became a finalist.
After seeing one of her performances on YouTube, Ellen Degeneres invited Charice to be on her show. After her appearance on the Ellen show, she was featured on The Oprah Show, and got to sing with many other talented singers. She is now signed by Reprise Records, and working with David Foster.
